Sally's Story 〰️

True transformation.

An inner work journey that allowed her to show up as her authentic self, led her to get out of her own way and provided her with permission to fly.

“ Kanisha is a Force”

Services done: Toe Dip, 6 weeks

“I had never done a breathwork session before, nor had I done anything like it. Beforehand I was nervous about the whole experience – specifically what feelings I might experience & how it would feel. Once we started, I was so focused on the breathing pattern that I didn’t have much time to perseverate on these fears.”

THE BEFORE

The reason Sally reached out to me was initially for diversity, equity and inclusion consulting.

As a white-bodied/cisgender/heterosexual woman, Sally wanted to learn about how she could create more representation in her photographic body of work for individuals and families whose identities and experiences are different from hers. She was looking for guidance and language to use when approaching these potential clients.

She had already tried the business coach, photography coach, and therapist but none of these approaches tied together to supply her the voice and messaging of inclusivity she was looking for that would allow her to express herself freely as a business owner/photographer.

Breaking cycles.

“ If you’re not getting where you want to go – maybe you’re repeating the same cycles over and over (maybe you know what they are, maybe you think you do or maybe you’re not certain) –

Kanisha will masterfully guide you through a way of looking at your life that will help you see what lies between where you are and where you want to be. Working with Kanisha gave me the clarity and awareness I needed to get moving again. “

The Process

As a racial justice placemaker and as a coach with a holistic eye, I had exactly the knowledge and approach Sally was looking for. However, I knew that Sally’s blocks were deeper than the reasons she needed help. As we were unveiling her own biases throughout the coaching experience, she was also removing harm toward herself, which would inherently start removing any potential harm toward others.

I wanted to prioritize giving her the courage to enter rooms as she is. I unearthed and addressed the work within her, and how she’s been keeping herself on the sidelines, yet to fully put herself out there in all of her colors and all of her boldness and everything she has to bring.

THE GOAL:

To get her to see her own power, her own beauty allowing herself to go for it and do the thing without holding herself back. These are some of the techniques implemented to ensure that this was achieved by the end of the 6 weeks:

  • History taking to fully learn and understand Sally’s background, mind stories, and behavioral patterns.

  • Creating the life architecture map to connect the dots of past actions, current practices, and future life goals.

  • Holding space and recognizing where she’s been to allow her to feel safe moving forward.

  • Implemented cracking open doing the thing and building habits to sustainably keep her moving.

  • Creating actual movement with How to’s to ensure tangible action.

  • Experiments including doing the things that have kept her stuck in the past.

  • Stretch being vulnerable with open conversation and uncomfortable yet expansive action.

  • Breathwork is the last step to transform, enter the subconscious, and let calm into her life.

The Experience

“ Kanisha is a force. She creates space for you to exist and encourages you to do so unapologetically. I’ve heard Kanisha refer to herself as a human permission slip and truly I can’t think of a better description. She is honesty, vulnerability and power all wrapped up.

During my experience working with Kanisha she listened to all that I shared and then behind-the-scenes went to work teasing out the things that lay in between. Asking questions and guiding me along while she seamlessly noted where & when I was stuck.

She has an extraordinary ability to show up in a room and simultaneously listen while teaching. Kanisha communicated to me the breadth and depth of nuance as it relates to our intersectionality and how this creates the freedom and space we all need to accept ourselves and others. “

I will be eternally grateful to Kanisha for creating this space and sharing her wisdom.

“Once we finished the session the next thing I noticed was the calm and quiet inside of my head. I was suddenly acutely aware of all the space around me and every noise which would typically go unnoticed.

In the weeks that followed that first breathwork session the deep sense of gratitude I experienced has remained with me.

It almost feels unshakeable. It gives me strength and makes me feel grounded. “

THE AFTER

I started seeing changes within Sally since the very start of their work together. From aha moments/realizations that happened in each session to connecting the dots on past events and current patterns. All these valuable pieces of information were worked through by building her life architecture map and fully diving into Sally’s history.

As the weeks passed, I was able to witness the full transformation of Sally whilst she was gaining accelerating confidence to use her authentic voice and show up in rooms she previously would have avoided.

By the end of the container, Sally had noticeably gained clarity and awareness that led her to create movement in her life and build the habits that (even now) allow her to sustainably take action. Finally having landed the permission to fly.

Uncover your blocks, get our of your own way, and finally find the permission to fly.
